Happy New Year
Emily had the best dreams of the New Year. She dreamed she was nominated for a Golden Globe, but decided not to go to the award ceremony because, "I didn't feel like it." Then she decided to go and wore a dress we'd seen at the Mall (Mariposa) and on the runway photographers were yelling "What are you wearing?" and she answered, "Mariposa!" She's writing more about it, herself.
We woke up around 2pm New Year's day (no not hung over, we didn't have any alcohol, we just stayed up late.) It was lovely to hear Emily's good dream, and that Bill had taped the Rose Parade for us.
Bill made waffles and the girls watched "Top Chef" on television while I busied myself with building 2007 web-sites. Sounds like a good start to me!
We had a wonderful talk with Sgt. Billy yesterday evening. He sounds just great, and LOOKS pretty dandy, too! The girls got his pictures and I must say, I'm impressed!

Tonight I attended my first Mary Kay success meeting in Alaska. I must say, it took me long enough! Probably the toughest thing for me about leaving Florida in 1995 was leaving my Mary Kay Director! Well, tonight I got a healthy dose of "go-give!" and am tickled... wait for it... drum roll... pink! It was a wonderful meeting and I look forward to going each week, even though I am not going to be rolling with it until mid-month. I'm rather low-key as far as the average Mary Kay consultant goes, my main attraction to the company is the PRODUCTS! The opportunity is great too, no doubt about that, my goals are more for personal satisfaction than monetary or recognition rewards. That's just one more thing that is fantastic about Mary Kay... it's what you make of it. |
01/20/2007
We've finished the first full week of school, and I am a little bit concerned. I've never really felt like maybe I wouldn't be able to do this, but now I am waivering. I enjoy school SO much, but now I'm not sure that it is the best thing for me to continue. I honestly don't know what to do.
 | In the meantime, I missed my first full history class because I had a dentist appointment. That was a bummer. I am enjoying American Sign Language very much, and the girls seem to like it too. Sociology is AWESOME, it is so interesting! The Math thing has me down. I just have to motivate myself to get through it. Maybe if there was some kind of reward. Oh yeah. It's a degree, isn't it? That's the reward? |
Things at home are not so great. I seem to be ineffective as a housekeeper and homemaker which is a huge disappointment, since that used to be my favorite thing. I guess it still would be, if anybody cared. I think that is the hardest thing happening right now. Nobody really seems to care about anything except MAYBE getting through the day... and MAYBE not even that! Must be the winter doldurms, do you think?
| I suppose the dentist thing has me concerned as well. I need a lot of work done. My car needs a new windshield, and all three cars need new tires. And there is still no electricity in the girl's bathroom. And the toilet in the master bath (and possibly the tub) may still be leaking. | |
 | And Annie's health insurance runs out on her birthday, so she will have to pay for UAF insurance. And she has a $300 lab fee for her photography class. And I dropped my internet class because the software was not in the budget. (Although if I drop math, I might pick it back up again.) Emily had her heart set on going to L.A. with the Dance Theatre Fairbanks, but airfare has gone up to $900 and she is devestated, because babysitting money isn't likely to raise that much in a year, much less in a couple of months. And of course it's not like I can harvest the money tree in the middle of January, it's as bare as a bone. |
| Enough of the negative. On the bright side both girls are babysitting, which covers their basic expenses (I hope.) Emily is dancing and comes home to tell me what she's done and her excitement is contagious. I'm enjoying the Mary Kay Success meetings each week. The dogs are adorable and funny. (Stretching a bit here... ) | |
 | Anyway. Maybe we ought to take some pictures. That'd be kinda fun. We'll see. I think MAYBE the girls and I will have tomorrow off together. Bill works almost all the time. Maybe I should say "works" since he really does love to fly, right? |
