Ready for School

I've signed up for another year full of fun and exciting courses to stimulate my brain. Seriously, part of the reason I'm taking classes is because I read someplace that if you keep learning, it slows down the natural process of forgetfulness due to age. I can only hope!

I dropped Developmental Math in favor of Intro to Business. I'll try the math again and hope I get the BEST instructor in Alaska, Mr. Hackett. The worst part is having to take it, instead of being some kind of genius who took algebra in the first place. Wait a minute; even if I had taken algebra 33 years ago (or more)
I probably wouldn't remember it. So it's a good thing. Brain exercise. One-two, One-two.... (Okay, I can get past two, seriously!) Intro to Business will be fun, in the meantime.

One class that should be a challenge and enjoyable for me will be HIST F101-F01 - Western Civilization. I enjoyed Professor Mangusso's class last semester. This class will probably make or break my decision whether or not to pursue a History major. I want to take almost all the history classes listed, just because they sound so interesting! At first I wasn't too keen on taking East Asian Civilization classes, but now that I know China has bought the U.S., I figure I should learn more about it. Same for the rest of the world, for that matter. The Southern Hemisphere is a mystery for too many North Americans. I want to learn! Better yet, I'd like to go to New Zealand. Field trip anybody?

I've tried to schedule my classes so I'll have plenty of time to keep up with my homemaking and hobbies. Anyway -- the schedule has been carefully planned. We'll see if we execute it or it annihilates us! Next up is English, which looks like it is going to be a total blast, although it doesn't make sense to me why we sign up for English F211X (Academic Writing about Lit) before we take English F200X (World Literature). Seems to me that's the cart before the horse. Don't we have to have something we've read before we learn to write about it? What do I know, I'm just a student. (That's rhetorical, you don't have to answer.) It's okay -- I like to read.

Annie and I signed up for COMM F141X Fundamentals of Oral Communication: Public Context but we dropped it due to schedule conflicts. I signed up for Personal Investing - BA F254. That's what conflicted directly with the Developmental Math. Who knows... maybe I'll get rich and drop out of school! (NOT)

Last is ANTH F100X FS3, Individual, Society and Culture. I'm taking that on the Internet along with Emily and Annie. Hopefully it'll be like the Library Science course was -- all on the internet. At least I hope so.

That's it. I'll be journaling as time goes by -- provided life is interesting enough to journal about. If it's as great as last semester was, there'll be plenty to read!
