Sewing Reorganization Plan | |

Okay -- This is daddy's notebook shelf. One possiblity is to switch it with the dresser and hutch that used to go with Annie's bedroom, and use that hutch and dresser to store fabric in drawers away from light, etc. Or not. Because these shelves are really heavy (even empty) and we had a heckuvatime getting them moved from the Family Room into the Sewing Room. Better alternative: get him new shelves when we're ready to do the loft to Library transition. The box of underpads is full of underpads and will go in the garage once there is a place to put them there. The fabric on top is for a set of comforter/curtains I want to make for my room. The plastic box behind it ... I need to go through that and the bag on top to see just what it is. Underneath that box is a blue rubbermaid tub full of fabric. |

Alrighty. Under that peach colored fabric are the boxes to all the sewing machines. You know in case we need to ship them for repairs and such? My goal is to eventually have room in the garage for them. I sure don't need them THERE even though they are handily holding some stuff Better I should be able to walk around the end of the table if I want to. Would I like a different space for the serger? Hm. Yeah, probably, and you know, one the size of those boxes at the end of the table might work. Who needs to walk around both ends of the table? Then the serger would be in a position leaving all that space on the cutting mat to spread the garment or item being sewn. I like that. We'll see. |

Okay. The shelves could still use some tidying.
The deep plastic drawers: The three shallow drawers: |
|
First off, those three tubs Have fabric and projects in them. Those might get moved elsewhere eventually. There are two "shoebox" size drawer units on top of the three shallow drawers. Those will contain pressing tools: water bottle(s), pressing ham, fuseable stuff, etc. and pre cut quilt squares. The light blue container on top of the yellow tub next to the spray starches is the button organizer. It will set on top of the two shoebox drawers. I don't think any of that stuff in the corner along the wall has to do with sewing, so it's going out of there as soon as I find a place to put it away properly and I will put some shelves there. |

I'm finding that I could use another unit of three or four drawers, for interfacing, velcro, zippers and marking tools. Now, on the curio shelf unit, some of the books can stay, once they're reorganized, but the videos are OUTTA THERE. They will have to go on a shelf in the Family Room or be stored someplace. The plastic containers under the sewing table with the cutting mat on it are full of fabrics. It's evident I don't need any more fabric for awhile, I should be able to figure out something from all the wealth on hand! |
| I spy with my little eye a glass that goes in the kitchen and some shaving cream to take upstairs. There are some books behind that little chair that go in the "give away" box. Each drawer of the sewing cabinet has a purpose: 1) Embroidery cards and tools 2) Embroidery thread and 3) The Embroidery Machine attachment. The rest of that stuff is sewing stuff. A box of fabric, a box of notions, etc. Gotta sort it and put it away. What could have happened to get it so disorganized? I think the last few times I tried to clean up in there something came up and it all got tossed where ever it would go. So NOW I am getting it in order! |

![]() | What in the patootie-puddles is THAT junk? Smack in front of the windows is NOT where I want a pile of bags and boxes full of fabric and other sewing stuff. One of my dream plans has window seats with built in storage there. I'm not 100% sure of it...but if I did that, I could set up two little portable tables for additional machines and have as sewing fest sometimes. That's a pretty cool thought.
