| Dourte's Custom PotRack |
Here we go, here is how the potrack came to be... It was just something I thought about for awhile and then asked Bill to make.
First we bought a length of stair-railing. yep, that's right -- the rail you'd put up to hold on to when you go up or down stairs. He drilled three holes all the way through -- in the center, and in a little bit from the ends. These holes were for the anchor-bolts, which hold the rack to the ceiling. We have quite a low ceiling in the kitchen so there was no need to extend the rack to make it lower.
Then I screwed in the eye-screws, (Size 6) and two size 4 hooks. I will also get a hook (or eye) for each end and hang the colander or tongs, or whatever I feel like.
To hang the rack, I made the appropriate sized hole through the sheetrock (ceiling) and inserted the springy part of the anchor-bolt.
I tightened up the anchor bolts until the wood was flush with the ceiling and snug, then hung a few pots to see how it will look.
I think once I take the painters plastic down and hang the little lace curtains behind the pots and pans this will be a nice little feature in my kitchen. It will look like a "valance" and be convenient for daily use!
In case you're wondering what that sign in my window says? It's a Flylady quote:
Now I am VERY eager to the things in ship-shape and sew my curtains for the kitchen!
