Dourte's Journal, 2004

September 2004
          BRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

This is the earliest we can recall since 1995 that September has started out so cold.

Emily got a new haircut and it is simply beautiful. It will be her last haircut for awhile though, as she'd like to grow her hair very long. It looks spectacular short, but every woman knows... long hair is special sometimes.

Emily started the month with her yearly volunteering for the MDA at our local television station. Since she'd done the phone bank for the last 4 years or so, she was selected to be a "Trainer" this year, and explained to other volunteers how to answer the phones and take donations.
At one point, she was on TV, as she changed the numbers on the toke board, but we didn't know it, and the TV wasn't on. I bet she shone like a star though, she's so very pretty!

The BEST thing that has happened this month is that I found http://www.flylady.net

I had been spinning my wheels for so long trying to "get a grip" on my household and my life that it is truly a blessing to have found this website. I started taking baby steps on September 20th, and my family has already noticed a BIG difference. And yes, it's for the better! (LOL) Along with paint, my house is getting a new coat of ORGANIZATION!

Kitchen Dreams!

The kitchen is painted, except for the cabinets and ceiling. It will be several years before we will have the budget for replacing the countertops but we looked anyway and I dreamed big. This Corian sample in "Atlantis" is PERFECT. We were able to "check out" a sample from Home Depot and bring it home to compare.
Click the chip at left to view the sample as shown at http://www.corian.com.
The picture is poor, but you get the general idea. Even though the kitchen is entirely "Bagel" the adjacent rooms are "Ocean Kiss" and "Rhythmic Blue" and those coordinate just as well!
It looks great with the fabric!
And it's awesome with that dark blue wall! It won't be right up against the wall, but will draw the color into the rest of the kitchen beautifully!!!

Gotta be thankful that dreaming is free!!!
