Dourte's Journal, 2004

July 2004
July is a great month in two ways-- Independence Day and Bill IV's Birthday!!!

It's a very busy month as well. Bill IV is in Virginia at Shooting Competition, and Bill III will be going to Florida to complete some more flight training. Emily is busy at Camp Li-Wa, and Annie is preparing for her departure to Texas in August... Where does that leave Mom?

I have about got all my "decorating" ideas together, and we are starting to paint a little more. For the full layout you can peek at:
Our Decorating Ideas
We have not bought any of the wallpaper borders, those are just thoughts... but I sure do like them, plus one more that Bill really likes and I am leaning toward. We'll see! There's certainly time before we will do much of anything!

This year, the fire season is devestating, and that isn't so great.

Latest Fire Information

The view from our back yard is less delightful than usual, shrouded in a thick yellow layer of smoke. It's been pretty much like this since the night June 26th.

The night view is slightly more yellow in the morning light, and still eye-watering and throat-choking.

It makes me feel claustrophobic, and it's sort of hard to breathe.

I think it may be getting worse; it doesn't feel any better. Word is, no relief until Saturday.

          We don't see any change.

          We don't see any change.

The wind has picked up a little, but I think it's even more dense than before... I'm tired and going to bed. (yawn) We'll see if tomorrow (later today) is any better!

No improvement. (heh) I have heartburn. When it changes, I'll take a picture.

I thought it was getting worse, but Bill says this is fog, and that is good. It means there is more moisture in the air and the weather is changing.

          It's breaking! It's breaking! Yayyyy!

          Happy Independence Day!
Since it doesn't get dark at night, we don't really do much in the way of fireworks. And since the fires have been so bad, they're totally banned this year anyway. No great loss... we enjoyed grilled steaks and relaxed all day.
