2004

January 2004
Happy New Year! 2004 looks promising as we finally start to dig out from under last year's crisis following crisis, following crisis. We were greatly blessed that Bill was able to transition into a new job immediately after Servant Air had to downsize. One more of these job transitions is likely to do us in, financially. Whatever this year brings, we will find the good and the joy in it!

Ever eager to challenge the learning curve, Deb built her own computer... from the motherboard up. Two Geeks Computers in Fairbanks had some of the components, and Computer Smith also in Fairbanks, had the rest. Once the fine tuning was done, Deb was one happy camper. Now if we could just get it to clean the house for us...

Not to be outdone, Bill built himself a new computer too. It's still got a few rough spots, but eventually he'll catch up with Deb...

Emily is still dedicated to ballet, choir, drama and AFJROTC. She's keeping so busy we have to e-mail her sometimes to see what her plans are! She's thrilled to have her braces off!

Annie is working at the local Mall in retail sales. She's doing okay, but we don't think it's her "calling," so to speak.

Bill 4 is still stationed in Japan, but we hope to hear that he is going to get out at the end of his hitch (that's October) and come back to Alaska for college.

We want to get the house "in order" once and for all, so started trying to catch up with the maintenance. We replaced the carpeting upstairs by the washer and dryer, in the hallway, with vinyl tiles like these:
Deb hopes to paint the laundry hall (it's not a room) walls blue and use this wallpaper border as accent. The idea was to use the left over blue paint from Annie's room... until Annie reminded us that her room was painted blue in 1997. Not too likely that'll be useable. A sturdy clothes hamper and a fold-down shelf table for folding clothes are also on the wish list. Face it... Deb's into domesticity.

We put the same tiles downstairs in the den, but haven't finished cutting to fit around the fireplace yet. One huge goal is going to be actually using the fireplace someday!

Emily has decided she'd like her room to be pink, and Annie has chosen peach & denim for her decor. If we ever get around to our own room, Deb will finish the "Cherries" quilt, and those will be our colors.
Still looking for the graphic... I know it is somewhere!
