My Views
I Love Animals
Of course I love Animals. We're all animals with hearts, brains, flesh and blood. Some of us are smarter than others. Some humans are not informed, or have been misinformed. That doesn't make them bad people. Some of us have been abused, neglected or frightened beyond description. We have only learned to fear and be wary of people, so we're timid, cowering, on guard, wary, anti-social, defensive and sometimes aggressive. That does NOT make us bad animals.
I Love Dogs
Naturally, I love dogs. Well, once I get to know them. If I don't know them, I'd like to be introduced. I love dogs. I love mutts, I love big dogs (in moderation), I love middle-sized dogs, and I absolutely adore beyond any measure, small dogs. I love for dogs to be taken cared of properly. I love for dogs to be comfortably warm and secure, exercised in activities they enjoy and thrive on, and fed regular, nutritious meals. Silly. Because Smuckers is a little dog!
I Love Chihuahuas
I'm not persnickety or snooty about it, but I'm crazy about Chihuahuas. Mainly because I know some excellent chi's, and hope to know more. We're misunderstood by many, (and it's not because of our accents!) mistreated by some uninformed, or even some downright cruel (or stupid) owners, and bred (as are hundreds of thousands of other dogs) as a commercial product... which should be a crime.
I Love the Dream... of a loving world...
I'm not going to say the Puppy Protection Act is 100% perfect. There are plenty of responsible breeders in our world who are careful and caring... and probably don't need the hassles of governmental red-tape to breed happy, healthy, social animals and place them in loving, competent homes.
I will say it's high time somebody paid attention to how some humans are treating other creatures (especially dogs!) for the sake of a dollar. These dollars aren't helping the economy, they're filling the pockets of individuals who care only for themselves.
If people are too busy to do anything about Puppy Mills and irresponsible breeders, if people only turn their heads and make "tsk, tsk" sounds or say "Aww, that's too bad..." Then maybe the Puppy Protection Act is what we're going to have to work with or modify if possible, or simply to live with if we can't communicate -- or continue to die by the thousands without.
...and now there are no excuses...

So, if you have read this page, checked out any of the links about puppy mills, and have any reasoning skills whatsoever... you know there are puppy mills. You know entire lifetimes are spent in tiny, uncomfortable, unsanitary cages doing nothing but breeding and growing puppies. You know sometimes those puppies are bred indiscriminately, born genetically ill, live with congenital defects, or die from them. You know that dogs are mistreated, abused, neglected, hurt, sick, and then left to die or killed without compassion.
If you're not a dog, or a "dog person" maybe you believe this isn't your problem. If you are satisfied living in a world with, and helping support people who deliberately hurt and misuse pets for profit... (doggie sigh) You're not my kind of people.

There are no excuses, now. You know about this travesty and the tragedy. Please follow your heart, and do whatever you believe you're best able to, to promote justice for pets.
There are numerous organizations and funds to help animals. It is up to you to research and find the ones you wish to support, whether it's local, statewide, nationwide or international. You choose whether your contribution is breed or species specific, or for any and all in need. You choose, whatever your heart calls you to -- but please don't make that "tsk, tsk" sound, or say "Awwwwww..."
Please, save a life, free a captive, offer food, shelter or medical care, today. And if you're a pet owner, remember to say "I love you!" to your precious family member, and prove it by your actions.
