 Serious Decision - It may have seemed like an impulsive move when Deb decided to make Marzipan part of our family on September 21, 2003... but she'd been considering a playmate for Ginger and me (Smuckers) for several months. It's not an easy decision, especially to decide to bring a little BABY home, but now that Deb isn't working bizarre hours we will have more of a normal family life. Well, as normal as life can be with the Dourte's.
Before the Holidays - It's usually not the best idea to bring a new pet into a family during the holidays, when there is so much excitement going on, and other activities take priority over introducing family members and routines to the newcomer. Likewise it would be difficult to adjust right at the end of summer. Having family home all day to play with, then suddenly being alone for hours while they're off to school would make any dog sad, much less a new, baby dog!
Time to transition - It will take time for Marzi to get used to us, and for us to get used to her. In the meantime we'll all be patient!
