| My family tree goes back to my "Great-Great Grandparents", and maybe (probably) even farther. This isn't really important, since I'm not going to have any babies, myself. If I were a breeding dog, it would be important, because the traits of my line would be carefully considered when choosing a sire for my puppies. I don't mind not having any puppies, because I have the Dourte's as my family. Believe me, they're a pawful, and I'm content to be nurturing these humans, instead of more little dogs! |

Generations ago...
Tales abound about my ancestors, many of them myth, some of them legend and a few, actual history. Dogs similar to me were important in religion and pet in ancient Toltec tribes and later among the Aztecs. Remains of my breed have been discovered in human graves in Mexico and in parts of the United States by archaeologists. Deb thinks we're the ultimate evolution of intelligent and beautiful (not to mention precious) dogs.
It's popular belief that Chihuahuas originated in Mexico, but it's more likely they were imported by the Spaniards, who possibly got them from the Chinese who have a history of breeding dwarf plants and animals. So do the Japanese. Then again somebody else painted chihuahuas on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, so part of our heritage probably goes back there. Heck, we're all descended from wolves, so what difference does it make? :) woof!
My Pals
These are the friends I've actually met and traded sniffs with (in the most ladylike way, of course!):

| Ginger is my housemate-sister-dawg. Brittany Spaniel and Poodle make an interesting mix. She's very hyper and has horrible manners for a 10 year old... she acts like she's about 4 months old! I hope to instruct her properly, once I get my people trained! |
Me 'n Dusty, we're pals. When I stayed with Joelle because the Dourte's were in Anchorage, Dusty and I kept each other company in the house. Dusty is littler'n me but she's just as perky and fun.
Lemme tell you it was rough learning how to be a housedog and follow Joelle around all day to do housework. I just had to nap now and then. Can you tell I'm a little sleepy here? It's naptime! |
Please visit some More of my Pals! If you want to be my pal, too -- just send your picture and a brief summary of your "his" or "her"story and I will be so happy to include you!
